RAL to PMS and GOE conversion Guide

Posted by Marco on Sep 25, 2009 in ICC

My good friend Bart set up a Conversion Guide for RAL to Pantone Solid Coated and Pantone GOE. Check it out but keep in mind the surface you’re going to apply RAL-paint on to might make the color appear different. Also don’t forget what Bart says:
“Please be aware that 100% accuracy is not possible when it comes to match these two color systems. Both have unique colors, but also a limited amount of colors to match. I’ve used software to compare the colors between the colorsystems and it comes up with an alternative based on the LAB-colorspace and the closest one based on the “feeling of the color”… Use is at your own risk and I can not be held responsible for any costs or problems because of using this chart”. (I updated the link).

The PMS numbers you requested are present in the chart. Follow the link and make sure you look at the Pantone Coated color numbers.

Hi, Please could you convert RAL 5002/5003 (somewhere between the 2) to a PMS reference. Thanks

RAL 5002 equals PMS 280 (or Pantone Goe 71-1-7). Using Photoshop you can than create a new Lab document and fill with PMS 280. Convert to CMYK (isocoated v2) and you’ll see cmyk: 100 / 87 / 7 / 34.

Sure, RAL “PINK” or RAL 4003 is Pantone Solid Coated 7432 (or the new Pantone Goe Coated 33-1-2).
The link to the conversion changed. Here’s the new one (scroll down a bit for the tables). http://www.dtp2.nl/ralpantoneconversion.html

@Steve, your PMS is 2767. See the new link in the article.
